Windows Server management with Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM is now live and in general availability! For the first time, customers can extend our industry-leading endpoint management to Windows Servers with the same ease as desktops, mobile devices, rugged endpoints, Linux servers and desktops, and IoT systems.

Why servers, why now?

The role of server infrastructure has evolved from back-office utility to the foundational engine of AI and intelligence. Today, servers host not only critical EUC workloads, but also private large language models (LLMs), and agentic workflows that define the modern digital experience. Managing servers, however, has remained anchored to siloed legacy tools and manual processes, creating massive strains on cost, performance, and visibility. Desktop and mobile admins work in one console while server admins work in another. Policies, patching workflows, and compliance efforts are duplicated across tools that don't talk to each other. As a result, IT organizations face a “management tax”—the high cost and heavy lifting required to manage infrastructure using tools disconnected from the rest of the EUC fleet.

Workspace ONE UEM eliminates the divide by enabling organizations to manage Windows Servers without relying on fragmented tools or legacy, on‑premises infrastructure. By automating server management with the same UEM solution trusted for end user devices, IT teams can reduce silos, streamline compliance, and gain greater visibility across their full environment. This means a more agile, scalable approach to Windows management that aligns servers with the same autonomous workspace principles that have helped transform desktop management.

One solution for every endpoint

Managing servers with Workspace ONE UEM gives you a single, modern UEM solution for all your endpoints. Familiar capabilities used to manage desktops and other end user devices can now be applied to servers, including:

  • Enterprise app repository: Over 8,000 prepackaged applications available for deployment to servers, with the same distribution workflows used for desktops.
  • Security baselines: Industry-standard configuration baselines can be applied consistently across your server estate, reducing manual configuration and drift risk.
  • Desired state management: Define the configuration your servers should maintain. Workspace ONE continuously assesses compliance and automatically remediates deviations with no manual intervention required.
  • Scripts and sensors: Execute PowerShell scripts and collect custom telemetry from your servers, providing the flexibility to manage configurations and gather data specific to your environment.
  • Low-code automation: Leverage the integrated Freestyle Orchestration capabilities to easily automate complex workflows for distributing profiles, applications, and scripts across your server fleet.

With every capability managed from the Workspace ONE UEM console, there’s no need to add third-party tools, learn separate UIs, or invest in additional infrastructure.

Built for the needs of server teams

Endpoint management teams are structured differently from organization to organization. Some have a single team managing everything; others maintain dedicated server infrastructure, desktop, and mobile teams with their own processes and access requirements.

Workspace ONE UEM supports both models with built-in guard rails. Multi-tenancy enables you to maintain separation between server and other endpoint deployments by organizational group. Whether that's by endpoint type, geography, business unit, or any grouping your IT structure requires. Role-based access controls ensure that server administrators have precisely the access they need, while other teams can be restricted from server management operations. This separation reduces the risk of potential misconfigurations and protects against costly downtime.

Granular patch management: control for every update

Compared to other endpoints, servers have stricter requirements around software updates and patching. Admins need full control over which updates are applied, to which servers, and when. This can be especially critical for environments with strict maintenance windows and regulatory requirements.

Introduced with Workspace ONE UEM version 2604, granular patch management delivers the control admins need. You can search for and select specific updates from the Windows Update Catalog, target them to defined server groups, and schedule deployment within your specified timeframe. You can even pre-download updates ahead of your change window so installation is immediate when the time comes.  With visibility across the full patch lifecycle per device, you can maintain peace of mind from download through installation and verification.

Automated security and compliance

Beyond patching, Workspace ONE UEM provides automated security features designed to keep your servers compliant without constant manual oversight:

  • Desired state management continuously monitors server configurations against your defined standards. When drift is detected, automated remediation brings servers back into compliance, reducing risk exposure and freeing your team from reactive firefighting.
  • Proactive patching for both Windows and third-party software keeps your servers current without waiting for a vulnerability to be exploited.
  • Automated certificate management handles the certificate lifecycle across your server fleet, eliminating the risk of expired certificates causing service disruptions.

In terms of visibility, automated reporting makes it easier to show that servers are patched and configured according to compliance standards. Insights on servers can also be aggregated with other device types in Omnissa Intelligence, so you can build a holistic view of your full environment without stitching together data from disparate tools.

Secure remote access without RDP

For times when physical access isn’t possible, Workspace ONE supports remote access without Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or third-party tools. RDP exposure remains one of the most common attack vectors for server infrastructure. Workspace ONE Assist, our cross-platform remote support tool, provides full screen share, file browsing, and command line access through an authenticated channel within the Workspace ONE UEM console. Admins get the access they need without unnecessary attack exposure.
