Omnissa Workspace ONE® UEM now supports declarative device management (DDM) for iOS and iPadOS with the release of version 2406! This phase of our declaration functionality allows Workspace ONE admins to deploy declarative configurations and assets to managed devices and implement the software update enforcement capability included in DDM. We have also introduced the declarative status channel so Workspace ONE can collect — and display — install status on any deployed declarations.

With this release of software update enforcement, admins can specify the desired iOS or iPadOS version and schedule the date and time for the update. Users are notified of the coming update multiple times, beginning weeks in advance, and given the opportunity to update at their convenience before the update is enforced at the scheduled date and time.

In addition to software update enforcement, Workspace ONE UEM supports the following DDM configurations:

  • Passcode
  • CalDAV
  • CardDAV
  • LDAP
  • Calendar Subscriptions
  • Exchange
  • Email
  • Google Account
  • Software Update Enforcement

In DDM, assets are a declaration sub-type that define user-specific information and are referenced by configurations. Workspace ONE supports the User Identity asset, which you can use to define a user’s full name and email address to any referenced configuration, eliminating the need for manual entry.

In the coming weeks, a patch release will bring all this functionality to macOS. Stay tuned for even more DDM features coming in future releases!

Note: DDM functionality requires Workspace ONE modern architecture. To learn more about modern architecture, please see this Tech Zone article: Workspace ONE UEM Modernization Wave 1
