Omnissa App Volumes 2412 release introduces powerful updates aimed at streamlining application delivery, enhancing security, and improving management efficiency which is great news for organizations looking to optimize their management of Windows apps.

MSI for Windows endpoints

Thousands of organizations have leveraged App Volumes to deliver and manage their virtual apps based on VHD and VMDK formats. App Volumes now brings the next level of support for MSI-wrapped VHD packages to be delivered on physical Windows endpoints. This enhancement allows the App Volumes agent to function independently within existing delivery infrastructures such as Workspace ONE UEM and thereby helping IT streamline app delivery. These MSIs simplify both app capture and uninstallation, reducing complexity and administrative overhead. Additionally, leveraging App Volumes Apps on Demand with MSIs enhances security by activating applications only upon launch, significantly minimizing the attack surface. Learn how to configure and install the App Volumes agent to support MSI packages on Windows physical endpoints.

App GUID parameter for application capture and import

Administrators can now specify an application group unique identifier (GUID) to automate the association of packages by application. This allows imported packages in App Volumes Manager to be automatically grouped, streamlining application management and ensuring a more structured deployment workflow. For example, GUID can be used to group apps by functions such as HR or finance to simplify app management for each function.

Enhanced Azure Virtual Desktop integration

We had previously announced our App Volumes integration with App attach in Azure Virtual Desktop. The latest update introduces key-value pair tagging for Azure Virtual Desktop, enabling administrators to assign tags when creating or modifying app attach package resources. This feature enhances organization, policy enforcement, and overall management of virtual desktop environments.

Driving business efficiency

With these enhancements, businesses can experience faster application deployment, reduced administrative effort, and improved security. The ability to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure ensures flexibility, scalability, and cost-effective IT operations. App Volumes continues to empower organizations by optimizing application lifecycle management and reinforcing their digital transformation strategies.
